Thriving Schools Wellness Initiative

Christine Chaney, MSW

Thriving Schools Wellness Initiative Coordinator

I am passionate about the work I do as a social worker, and even more passionate in my role as the Thriving Schools Wellness Coordinator. It is my hope to bring culturally appropriate wellness techniques, interventions, and educational opportunities to families, children, school staff, and the larger communities we serve. I believe we are all connected, and through engagement, collaboration and our innate desire to affect change, I believe our loftiest of goals can be achieved. I believe in advocating for those without a voice and setting the bar high for those who follow. It is through this type of work that I feel the most connected and why my passion continues to evolve and grow.

Fabiola Osorio

McPherson Family Resource Center Coordinator

I thoroughly enjoy helping members of my community find the resources available to meet their basic needs. I enjoy encouraging them to go reach further by offering them the tools necessary to develop their leadership skills and to become self-sufficient and active members of their community. I feel very proud when I see them grow and achieve their goals.

Miriam Rodriguez

I love when I can see parents more involved at school, helping in projects or taking classes to learn how to attain a better future.

Leticia Gonzalez

I do my work in order to help families meet their basic needs by giving them the necessary information they need. I help them to have a better quality of life for themselves and for their families so that they can excel and thus achieve a better future. Doing this makes me feel really good.

Lupita Melgoza

I do the work that I do because I want to give back to the community that once helped my family. It's motivating for me to see other families and know that I can help them and make a difference in their life.

Ligia Navarette

Case Manager & SparkPoint Coordinator, Phillips Family Resource Center

When I arrived in Napa 14 years ago, I knew no one. When my daughters started school, I met a lady who started telling me about all the events and programs that my family could benefit. From that moment I decided that helping others is very rewarding. I started volunteering at school and looking at the newspaper for information that I shared with my neighbors and friends. This job gives me the opportunity to help not only my acquaintances but the whole neighborhood.  It gives me great satisfaction and joy. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to help people make a positive change in their lives.

Ale mendoza

I do what I do because I love helping others, I always have and always will. I love seeing parents involved in Parent University classes, be active on campus, being engaged in their children’s education, and I love seeing them grow and reach their goals. I love working in an environment where we get to encourage one another and share each other’s accomplishments. It is a privilege to work for an organization that has offered so much for my family and I. Don’t forget to stay humble, work hard, and always be kind.

Blanca Macias

Case Manager, Shearer Family Resource Center

My family and I came to live in Napa 13 years ago. From the moment I enrolled my children in school, I began to volunteer. Through this, I received a lot of information about how the school campus works and the programs offered, especially in the Family Resource Centers, where I was given the opportunity to prepare professionally by attending the programs and classes that these Centers offer to our community. Now I feel proud to be part of the team of one of them.

The things I like most about working in a Family Resource Center are the positivism, the support, the good communication that we have as a team, the relationship with many people and the most important opportunity to help and serve our community.

Edith pacheco

Administrative Assistant & Workforce Development Coordinator, Shearer Family Resource Center

I’m grateful to be working in an environment that is welcoming and where we all get along. I enjoy working with the families in our community. It’s great getting to meet new people everyday that stop by at Shearer Family Resource Center. The best part is knowing that I’m in the same campus as my two kids, it’s a blessing.

Leadership Academies

Evelyn Vega

Leadership Academy Director

I do what I do because I want to be for others the person I needed when I was younger. I want to be someone who builds the confidence of our young people and help them develop their leadership skills. I am especially passionate about empowering underrepresented youth to find their voice and enact positive change in their community.

Eduardo Rivera

Leadership Academy Program Manager

I do this work because I get to create new realities for our young people. Realities that show love, acceptance, and support. I am able to be who I am today because of the immense support I found in my community. In the moments where I felt seen and loved by others, those were the moments I saw who I was as a person. I began to value my existence. My groups of community broke chains and cycles that kept me back from reaching my potential as a human being. Now I have the opportunity to be a gamechanger for our young people. Many times, I see the young Eduardo in my youth, but my youth don’t have to isolate and hide from the world as I did. Our young people deserve the lives they want to live out and in part, I hope to support our young people so that they can find themselves and continue to flourish into the great leaders they can be.

Empecé a valorar mi existencia.

Daniela Gamez

Elementary and Middle School Leadership Academy Coordinator

I believe that every student deserves a community willing to support them and help them achieve their goals. I do what I do because I see youth as our treasure, therefore I am committed to doing my part in creating a safe space where our students feel like they can grow and be themselves. I know what it feels like to not have the necessary resources and guidance, and that is why I want to contribute to help students have the right support system, because it takes a village to raise a leader. It is an honor for me to work with students, and witness the amazing and talented human beings they are.

Laura Sanchez

Youth Internship Program Coordinator & Youth Leadership Academy Administrative Assistant

As a previous Leadership Academy student and Neighborhood Initiative intern, I am proud to be able to provide the same services that I once experienced. I enjoy giving back and being connected to our community. Mainly, I do what I do because I want to be another individual in the community for youth to be able to approach and trust.

I'm passionate about empowering individuals to be more confident and engaged in the future of our community. My hope is to continue to provide the information and outreach needed in order to expand our immigration services in the Napa Valley.

Raul Siqueiros

Citizenship Legal Services Program Assistant

One of the things I am passionate about is to let my community know about the variety of services and benefits that we have available to them. Through these programs we can show them the path to achieve their goals. In my short time with Citizenship Legal Services, I have noticed the broad demand of services that are needed at different levels and aspects.

My goal is to help every single person to be successful in their life’s purpose.
